Who can use Kettle

Community guidelines

Stewards and moderation

Stewards are residents, not Kettle staff. They approve joiners, write notices and act on reports. Posts that look like they break the rules may be held for a steward to check. We or stewards may remove content, mute or ban an account, or end access to a building to keep people safe.

Your content

What you post is yours. You give us and the neighbours in your building permission to show it inside the app for as long as it is live. Posts expire automatically and you can withdraw them earlier.

Kettle Plus

A building can buy Kettle Plus, an optional subscription that lifts the free member limit. The purchase is made through the Apple App Store or Google Play and billed by them. It renews until cancelled, and you cancel it in your store account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules. Safety and trust features such as verification, reporting, blocking and account recovery are always free.

Leaving and deleting

You can leave a building or delete your account at any time in the app. If you are the only steward of a building, you will be asked to hand over to another resident first. See the privacy policy for what is deleted.

Our responsibility

Kettle is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and safe, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error free. Kettle connects neighbours; we do not check what residents say or do, and you are responsible for how you deal with other people, including anyone you meet in person. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect losses.

Changes, and the law

We may update these terms and will tell you in the app before significant changes apply. If you keep using Kettle after that, you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction, though if you live elsewhere in the UK you keep your local rights.
